Rib Subluxation

VIVE PLASTIC SURGERY

At Vive Plastic Surgery, Dr. Guadalajara is one of the few bunch of plastic surgeons in north america performing rib removal procedures. This surgery improves the contours and definition of the waist by narrowing it just above the hips. By removing the lower ribs, the waistline contracts and is further defined. The lower five sets of the ribs are called false ribs, which means that they are not attached to the breastbone or sternum. The latter two sets of the false ribs are identified as floating ribs because they are not connected to any tissue in front, which allows them to be extracted for aesthetic purposes in order to reduce the size of the waist. As a board-certified plastic surgeon, Dr. Felix “Guadalajara” Marquez has extensive training and skill to perform this specialty procedure for his patients in the Tijuana and surrounding areas.

What makes liposuction 360 new and innovative is that it is highly effective not only for those who need help removing unwanted, stubborn fat, but for very athletic and thin people, as well.

Ideal Candidates for Rib Subluxation Surgery

Patients in good health who are not able to reduce their waist despite a healthy diet and regular exercise may benefit from this procedure. Rib removal helps to create a tighter waistline with enhanced curves for a more desirable figure. Often, patients also receive liposuction at the same time to enhance the figure even more. A rib removal procedure improves the feminine appearance and is popular not only with women, but also among transgender patients who want more of an hourglass figure.

Rib Subluxation Technique

A rib removal procedure will be performed in our on-site surgical center under general anesthesia. The entire surgery takes about 2 – 3 hours to complete, and most patients will be able to leave to go home the same day as their procedure. Two small incisions will be made to reach the ribs on both sides of the lower back. The ribs are then removed through the incision. Liposuction may also be performed to remove excess fat from the waist area. All of the details of your procedure will be discussed during your thorough consultation with your surgeon prior to your surgery so that you know exactly what to expect.

What can be expected.

Following a rib removal procedure, you may experience moderate discomfort and soreness may linger for up to six weeks after the surgery. A member of our post-operative care team will provide you with the appropriate aftercare instructions to ensure you heal properly. You may also need to attend follow-up appointments so that your surgeon can evaluate your results and make sure that you are experiencing an efficient recovery. Typically, most patients are able to return to their normal daily routine within two weeks of rib removal.
